Moses Reviews the Ten Commandments

Today I read Deuteronomy 5 where Moses reminds the Israelites about the ten commandments that were given to them by Mount Horeb.  It is an interesting thing to remind them about since they have been living them, hopefully, for the last forty years!  But remind them he does and even states what they are to them so there is no room left for interpretation just what he is referring to.

The ten commandments have been the backbone of many organizations and civilizations.  They are a great foundation for anyone to have since they outline, in detail, the pitfalls to avoid when dealing with other people and with God Himself.  I can't help but wonder if some person had thought them up if they would still be acceptable in America.  Since America is so backwards these days that they banned them just because they came from God, which is ridiculous in and of itself.  If there is a God, and you better believe that there is one, but nevertheless for an agnostic, if there is a God, wouldn't you want to listen to what He or She for some folks, has to say to us?  Why wouldn't you?  Humans are so crazy at times and so very, very backwards.

Personally, even if I weren't a Latter-day Saint I would follow the ten commandments.  They are a great way to live ones life.  Which is what they really are if we are being honest with ourselves.  They are meant to govern us and give us the best life possible.  But some people thrive on misery, they can't stand to be happy and have to always have drama going on in their life to be happy and feel secure.  For the life of me I can't understand why this is, but I have seen it way too often for it to be a random phenomenon.  Sadly if everyone would step up to the plate and try and do what is best for those that are around them, this world would be a lot happier and a lot better of a place to live.  Until tomorrow.
